Brașov Running Festival, the only and first road running competition in Romania that includes  a World Athletics Elite Label certified race, but also the only one of its kind in South-Eastern Europe, launches its third edition and starts registrations. The event will take place in Brașov, in the Coresi district, between September 9 and 10, 2023. It will include races dedicated to mass runners, but also two certified races for elite athletes - tRUNsylvania International 10K and European Road Mile.

„Brașov Running Festival is approaching another edition and we are proud that this event is already becoming a tradition not only for the central area of the country, but also at national level and even for athletes and running enthusiasts from abroad. As in previous years, the star of the competition will be the women's and men's tRUNsylvania International 10K race, where, once again, athletes from the world's Top 20 will line up at the start,”

said Daniel Santa, the race director.

According to his statements, Brașov Running Festival has become, since the first edition, a relevant event on the world map of athletics.  The Elite Label certification, granted by World Athletics confirms the top level of organization, the competition in Brașov being next to only 20 other such sports events at European level. Also, the event has already put Brașov on the international athletics map for the first time, being a member of AIMS – The Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.

„The course chosen for the tRUNsylvania International 10K professional race proved to be one of the fastest in the world, placing Brașov Running Festival in 10th place among the road running races in the world in 2022, surpassing famous races such as from New York, Boston, Madrid, Rome, Istanbul or Paris. This aspect makes the event highly desired by the great athletes of the world who want to break new records", said Daniel Santa.

In fact, in the previos edition, 3 of the 10 fastest 10 km results of all time were achieved in the Brașov race, and the world record in the women's 10 KM event was missed by only 6 seconds.

This year's event will also include a race dedicated specifically to European professional athletes, on a 1-mile route - the European Road Mile. As in previous editions, the prizes offered to professional runners in the two dedicated races will total more than 50,000 dollars.

As for the mass participation competitions, they will be dedicated to both adults and juniors (restricted to persons born after Jan. 1, 2007) and children (restricted to persons born after Jan. 1, 2010 / 2012). Thus, the first day of the competition, schedules the  juniors and children races, of 3,000 M, 1,200 M and 800 M, as well as a race dedicated exclusively to women (Women's High Heels Race). On the second day of the event, the 5 and 10 KM mass races will take place, as well as the one dedicated to people in wheelchairs.

„Brașov Running Festival is more than a sports competition. It is the place that brings together top athletes, who fight to break records, but also the place where children, young people and amateur adults have the chance to run in a setting organized according to the highest world standards. More than that, the Brașov Running Festival is an opportunity to bring almost thousands of spectators who can take part in concerts and unique activations",

emphasized Daniel Santa.

This year, Brașov Running Festival aims to bring together over 30.000 spectators from the whole country, but also from abroad, and the competition will be able to be watched live all over the world.
